Sun Voyager boat statue in Reykjavik harbor. Looking back through all of the pictures I took on this day, it's interesting to see so many different scenes that we noticed at the time. A man in the bowler hat taking a photo of his wife... A toddler wearing a helmet (no bike)...(edit I found the bike - it's a toddler trailer) A couple sitting on the steps...

Street scene around midafternoon on Lugevegur street - Culture NIght 2012

Hallgrímskirkja and the Leifur Eiríksson statue. This is a Lutheran church built to resemble basalt columns. I wasn't sure of protocol, so I did not take any indoor pictures, but it was very sunny and open inside with a huge pipe organ on the tower wall of the sanctuary. The line was a little too long to go up into the bell tower.

There was a viking street show in front of the Hallgrímskirkja during the Culture Night 2012 festivities. I assume they were battling the invading tourists.

We were able to check into our hotel around 8am that Saturday if we were willing to take the front room that had a lot of street and bar noise. They had a cancellation the night before We were too tired to care. Our room was a decently sized studio suite with a sofa and kitchenette. There was a LOT of street noise, but it was a good spot to watch people.

Fireworks during culture night. I didn't take my camera to the fireworks but did have my Ipod with me so I took some pictures and video with the intention of uploading them here later. Unfortunately I lost my ipod at the airport, so this is the only one I uploaded. The fireworks only lasted about 10-12 minutes, but they were very intense.
