  • 5/8/2009 - Supercell near Montague, TX.

On our first day, we started out waiting for storms to develop out near Ardmore OK. Eventually, we headed south into TX towards a storm near Stephensville, TX. We were too far away to get to that storm in time so went to watch this one instead. Also present were thousands of giant mosquitoes.

  • 5/8/2009 - rotation
This is from the same storm (tornado warned) but a bit later after sunset. It's a rather blurry picture, but the clouds are rotating there right above us. Although it was tornado warned, this one did not produce any tornadoes. These last few pictures of the day were after sunset and did not turn out very well. Later that night, we moved on to another storm in Nocona, TX.

  • 5/10/2009 - Hail storm near Marathon, TX

The only way to get to the second developing supercell was to drive through the core of it. We pulled off the road a while to let the worst of it pass. The hail was not very large but there was a ton of it. Imagine driving on a road covered in ball bearings...(98 degrees and road is covered in ice.) We had to wait for it to pass over.
