The next night was miserable. No way to cook food, and the rainforest lived up to its name. The tarp kept us from getting too wet during the night but it filled up with water. The family with the llamas carrying the packs and good smelling food were nearby. Llamas were definitely the way to go in the future and the inspiration for our 2003 trip to the Crazy Mountains. We hiked out the next day in mud and rain with the promise of steak and beer leading me on.
After our hike out of the rainforest, we visited the seashore at Olympic park the next day (after several hot showers, steak, beer, and a real bed). I had trouble walking that day. My feet were really sore :)
